DHgate tracking frustrates a lot of buyers: your order says “shipped,” but the number won’t work, shows “not found,” or sits frozen for days. Because DHgate is a wholesale marketplace where each seller picks their own courier — and parcels pass through DHgate’s own logistics arm, DHLink, before reaching your local post — it’s easy to fear your order has vanished. This guide shows you where to find your tracking number, why it stalls, and how to follow your parcel to your door.

The key thing to understand first: DHgate is a marketplace, not a shipping company. Every seller chooses how to ship, so two DHgate orders can travel completely differently. Many parcels move through DHLink, DHgate’s in-house logistics service, then onto China Post or ePacket, before your national post handles the last mile. One number follows the parcel, but the scans come from different systems — so quiet gaps are normal.
Order number vs. tracking number (know the difference)
This is the single most common DHgate mix-up. Your order number and your tracking number are not the same, and only one of them works in a tracking tool.
- An order number is DHgate’s ID for your purchase — a long string of digits. It identifies your order inside DHgate and can’t be tracked on any carrier site.
- A tracking number is issued by the carrier once the parcel ships. It usually mixes letters and numbers, like
RB123456785CNorYT2512345678901234, and often ends inCN.
If a tracker says “not found,” you’ve almost certainly entered the order number, or the seller hasn’t uploaded a real carrier number yet.
Where to find your DHgate tracking number
Once the order status shows Shipped, the number lives in your account. Here’s the quickest path.
- Go to My DHgate → My Orders (or open the shipping email).
- Find the order and click Track Order or Order Details.
- Look for the Tracking No. and the carrier/shipping method next to it.
- Copy the number — you’ll need it to track outside DHgate.
Shortcut: No number yet? DHgate sellers often mark an order “shipped” and upload logistics details before the carrier’s first pickup scan. Give it 24–72 hours to go live. If it’s still blank after a few days, message the seller through My Orders → Contact Seller.
How to track your DHgate package
Once you have the number, you have three options.
1. On DHgate
DHgate’s own Track Order button shows a basic timeline. It’s fine for a glance but often lags the carrier and thins out during the international leg.
2. On the carrier’s site
Paste the number into whichever carrier is moving it — China Post, YunExpress, 4PX, or Yanwen. The catch: once it’s handed to your local post, the Chinese carrier’s page stops updating and you have to switch sites.
3. In one universal tracker
This is where DHgate’s multi-carrier mess sorts itself out. A universal tracker auto-detects the carrier and stitches every hand-off — DHLink, China Post, customs, and your local courier — into one timeline. That’s what PackageTracking.app does: we follow 1,700+ carriers, so one DHgate number keeps updating from the warehouse to the van on your street, with an alert on every change.
Which carriers does DHgate use?
Because each seller chooses, DHgate parcels ride a wide mix of couriers. These are the ones you’ll see most:
| Carrier / method | When you’ll see it | Track it |
|---|---|---|
| China Post | The cheapest, slowest option (3–6 weeks) | China Post tracking |
| ePacket (via DHLink) | DHgate sellers’ preferred economy option — faster, trackable | ePacket tracking |
| YunExpress | Common on standard, trackable end-to-end | YunExpress tracking |
| 4PX | Consolidated and standard parcels | 4PX tracking |
| Yanwen | Small, lightweight economy orders | Yanwen tracking |
| DHL / FedEx / UPS | Express, on higher-value orders | The carrier’s site |
| Local post | The last mile — USPS, Royal Mail, etc. | Your national carrier |
DHgate also uses Hong Kong Post and Singapore Post on some routes. A single order can involve two or three of these, which is exactly why the tracking looks fragmented if you only check one site.
DHgate shipping methods and how trackable they are
Not every DHgate shipping option gives you real tracking — and this catches buyers out. Here’s what to expect before you pay.
| Method at checkout | Tracking you get |
|---|---|
| Seller Defined Std Logistics / “Free shipping” | The weakest. The seller picks the cheapest line, tracking is often limited or China-only, and it can go dark for a week or more. |
| ePacket / DHLink | Good. Trackable end-to-end with a hand-off to your local post. |
| YunExpress / 4PX Standard | Good. Reliable end-to-end scans. |
| DHL / FedEx / UPS Express | Best. Detailed, near-real-time tracking. |
If tracking matters to you, avoid the cheapest “Seller Defined” option and pick a named carrier at checkout.
Is DHgate tracking reliable?
Mostly yes — but the accuracy depends on the carrier the seller chose, not on DHgate itself. Express (DHL, FedEx, UPS) and ePacket or YunExpress give timely, accurate scans you can trust. The cheap “Seller Defined” option is where reliability drops: updates are sparse, sometimes China-only, and can lag the parcel’s real position by days.
One important limit: DHgate can’t create scans a carrier never made. So if a seller uploads a number that never goes live, that’s a seller issue, not a DHgate glitch — and it’s grounds for a refund. The way to get dependable tracking is to pick a named carrier at checkout and follow it through a tool that carries the hand-off all the way to your local post.
What DHgate tracking numbers look like
The format hints at which carrier has your parcel — and helps you spot an invalid number.
| Carrier | Example format |
|---|---|
| China Post / ePacket (registered) | RB123456785CN — 2 letters, 9 digits, ends CN |
| YunExpress | YT2512345678901234 — starts YT |
| 4PX / universal (UPU) | UG123456789YP — letter-heavy, country suffix |
| DHL Express | 1234567890 — 10 digits |
A number ending in CN started in China. If your “tracking number” is short, all-digits, and matches your order confirmation, it’s probably the order number, not a carrier number.

“Shipped but no tracking update” — the #1 DHgate problem
This is the most common DHgate complaint, and most of the time nothing is actually wrong. Work through it in order:
- The number is brand new. Sellers upload tracking when they mark an order shipped, often before the carrier scans it. Wait 24–72 hours for the first scan.
- You’re on the international leg. After it leaves China, a parcel can go 5–15 days with no scan until it lands and clears customs. Silence here is normal, especially on cheap “Seller Defined” shipping.
- It changed carriers. When DHLink hands the parcel to your local post, the old page stops updating — the new scans appear under your national carrier.
- The number is on the wrong site. A China Post number won’t resolve on a YunExpress page. Use a tracker that auto-detects the carrier.
Still stuck after all that? Our guide to a tracking number that isn’t working covers the deeper fixes.
“Tracking number not found” or invalid
If a valid-looking number returns “not found” for more than a few days, one of these is usually true:
- It hasn’t entered the carrier’s system yet — give it another 24–48 hours.
- The seller uploaded a placeholder to start the delivery clock before actually shipping.
- It’s the order number, not the tracking number.
Watch for this: A number that never gets a real scan, shows movement in a country that isn’t yours, or reads “delivered” to the wrong address is a red flag. On DHgate, the seller is responsible for providing valid tracking — if they can’t, that’s strong grounds for a refund. Keep screenshots of the dead or wrong tracking as evidence.
“Delivered” but nothing arrived
Wait 24–48 hours first — carriers sometimes scan “delivered” early. Check with neighbours and look at the delivery scan’s location. If it’s genuinely missing, open a dispute under DHgate Buyer Protection and attach the tracking detail showing the mismatch.

How long does DHgate take to deliver?
It depends almost entirely on the shipping method the seller offered.
| Method | Typical to US / West | Tracking |
|---|---|---|
| DHL / FedEx / UPS Express | 3–7 days | Full, detailed |
| ePacket / YunExpress / 4PX | 10–20 days | Full, end-to-end |
| China Post economy | 3–6 weeks | Basic |
| Seller Defined / free shipping | 20–45+ days | Limited |
Customs and peak periods (Chinese New Year, November sales) add time. A quiet week during those is queueing, not a lost parcel.
Customs and duties in 2026: what changed
DHgate parcels are affected by the same recent rule changes as any China import. If your tracking sits on customs clearance for days, an unpaid charge is the usual cause.
| Region | What you pay now |
|---|---|
| United States | The $800 duty-free “de minimis” allowance ended in 2025 — first for China/Hong Kong in May, then all countries in August. DHgate parcels that once arrived duty-free can now owe import duty, collected before delivery. |
| European Union | VAT applies from the first cent (often collected at checkout via IOSS). From 1 July 2026, the €150 duty-free threshold was replaced by a temporary €3-per-item duty on low-value parcels. |
| United Kingdom | VAT is charged on consignments up to £135; above that, VAT and duty are collected on import. |

How to open a DHgate dispute
If a parcel is lost, invalid-tracked, or never matches its description, Buyer Protection is your safety net. Act inside the protection window shown on your order (often 60–90 days from payment).
- Go to My Orders and open the order.
- Choose Refund/Return or Open Dispute.
- Pick the reason — not received, invalid tracking, or not as described.
- Attach evidence: photos and the tracking screenshot showing no real movement or a wrong-country scan.
- Propose a refund. If the seller doesn’t resolve it, escalate and DHgate steps in.
Tracking that never left “info received,” or shows delivery to the wrong country, is your strongest evidence — one more reason to watch the timeline, not just the seller’s word.
The one-place fix: Buy from DHgate (or AliExpress) often? Paste any DHgate, China Post, or YunExpress number into PackageTracking.app — it auto-detects the carrier, follows every hand-off, and alerts you on each update, so a quiet international leg never feels like a lost parcel.
DHgate tracking FAQ
Open My Orders, click Track Order or Order Details, and copy the Tracking No. next to the carrier name. Paste it into that carrier’s site or a universal tracker. If it shows “not found,” the seller may not have uploaded a real number yet.
In My DHgate → My Orders, under the order’s Track Order / Order Details once the status is Shipped. It’s also in your shipping-confirmation email. If it’s blank, the order hasn’t fully shipped.
Not on carrier sites — the order number only works inside DHgate. You need the carrier tracking number the seller uploads after shipping.
Usually the seller marked it shipped before the carrier’s first scan. Wait 24–72 hours. On the international leg it can also go 5–15 days without a scan until it lands and clears customs.
Either it hasn’t entered the carrier’s system yet (give it 24–48 hours), it’s actually the order number, or the seller uploaded a placeholder before shipping. If it never gets a real scan, that’s grounds to contact the seller and open a dispute.
It varies by seller. Common carriers are China Post, ePacket via DHLink, YunExpress, 4PX and Yanwen for economy, DHL/FedEx/UPS for express, and your local post for final delivery.
Roughly 3–7 days by express, 10–20 days via ePacket/YunExpress, and 3–6 weeks or more on China Post economy and Seller Defined free shipping. Customs and peak seasons add time.
The seller. They must provide valid tracking, so an invalid or fake number is strong grounds for a refund under Buyer Protection. Keep screenshots as evidence.
Wait 24–48 hours, check with neighbours and the scan location, then open a dispute under Buyer Protection with the tracking detail attached.
Yes. If a seller splits an order or ships items separately, you may get several numbers — track each one individually.
You don’t get a separate USPS number — the same tracking number is handed to USPS for the final leg. Once it reaches the US, track it on USPS or a universal tracker that follows the hand-off automatically.
For express and ePacket/YunExpress, yes — scans are reliable. Cheap Seller Defined shipping is the least accurate, with limited or delayed updates. The tracking itself is only as good as the carrier the seller chose.
Increasingly, yes. The US ended its $800 duty-free allowance in 2025, and the EU added a €3-per-item duty from July 2026. Duty is often collected by your carrier before delivery, which is a common reason tracking pauses at customs.
